What Does It Mean to be Human?

I was inspired to write this blog after listening to the music video “All We Do” by Oh Wonder. I came across this song a few months ago and it’s one of those songs that gives you the chills every time you listen to it. The question we all have to ask ourselves is “What does it mean to be human?” It’s a simple question that unravels an entire world of complexity, contradictions, and mysteries. Everyone has their meaning of what a human means to be in this world. What’s yours?

Human life is astonishing. It’s about being everything you want to be. When you finally learn what you love to do you will be able to love unconditionally, provide service to others in various ways, and impact individuals in a positive manner. We should accept where we are in our lives and embrace it. If we are unhappy, it is in our best interest to make a change. Making changes and adapting to new things enables an individual to be the best human possible. We all have one life to live and during that lifetime why not experience the journey of life? We should use the energy we have in our body and soul to take control of our minds and create our journey the way we want to construct it. At the end of the day, you have to make yourself happy.

I understand life is full of obstacles. However, with these obstacles come great rewards. I am a firm believer that everything that comes to us for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Either way, anything in our lifetime that we are faced with is there for a purpose.

Living a life with purpose is about making a change in a community, helping better serve humanity, and bettering the lives of the people we come across. Health, more specifically mental health should be the starting point for every individual. I say that because what we eat and how we think can impact society. Without our health and wellness, there is a higher chance that an individual will be unable to focus on their goals and dreams because their body is focusing on healing itself. Therefore, prioritising your health is the most crucial part of being a human. Every action leads to an outcome. Loving one another, having peace, and calmness in this world will give people the light to do what they desire in their lifetime.

How can we achieve the things we want to achieve in our life? How can we play with our kids if we don’t have the energy to?  How can we provide the best life for our family if all our money is going towards medical bills? I want you to take some time to think about these questions and decide how you want your life to be like in the next 2-3 years. Our health is significantly vital to us and our world. Health should be considered a priority in all our lives. It is of importance that we build a lifestyle around it. Negative thoughts, toxins, and traumas are ways that unsync the natural harmony of the body. Posing turbulence on our body means that our body is unable to reach its fullest potential.

Our body and mind are in a state of balance. Human life is about having balance and harmony in our lives. Without balance we weigh onto one side heavier than the other. When this occurs it’s okay if we recognise it and shift our mindset to revert back to a harmonious state of mind.
